3 Notorious Landmarks in Bucharest

Bucharest is the capital of the Balkan country Romania. It is a beautiful city with amazing architecture. Some people call it “The Little Paris of the East” and to tell you the truth this nickname is not given randomly.

In Bucharest, there are a lot of glorious neoclassic and Belle Époque buildings, which remind very much of Paris. The city even has its own Arch of Triumph.

Today I am going to present to your attention three very interesting and notorious landmarks in the Romanian capital, which are well worth seeing.

  • The Palace of the Parliament or the People's Palace, as locals call it, is probably the most iconic landmark in Bucharest. It is a colossal building, built during the reign of the communist leader Nicolae Ceausescu. It is the largest civilian building in the world and the most expensive one as well. A whole neighbourhood had to be demolished, so that the palace can be built.
  • The Royal Palace, which is in a fabulous neoclassical style building, erected between 1927 and 1937, was home to the Romanian King Carol II and to his son, King Mihai I until 1947. Today this beautiful building houses the Romanian National Art Museum.

  • The Athenee Palace Hotel is a fabulous hotel, built in 1914 to accommodate the rich and famous in Bucharest. This spectacular luxury hotel Bucharest is currently a prestigious Hilton hotel with sophisticated atmosphere. In my opinion this is the best place for accommodation in Bucharest and the best place to start a sightseeing tour in the Romanian capital as well.
Do you feel like visiting Bucharest already? Well, if you decide to go, I guarantee that you will not regret it. The city offers everything a traveller needs. Just book a room in some of the hospitable Bucharest hotels and go to experience your holiday of a lifetime.
