Vienna has been many centuries one of the major centres of culture in Europe and contributed in the fields of classical music, fine arts, opera, theatre, waltzing and urban planning. During the long reign of the Habsburg monarchs, the city had an enormous weight in terms of economy, culture and politics in Europe. Many aspects of this influence are still kept today and the Austrian capital is a much desired tourist destination.
